With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we know that making the day special for your loved one is definitely high on the priority list. Thinking of different ways to spend some quality time with your other half isn’t always the easiest task. North Wales is such a beautiful and thoroughly romantic location, we’ve put together a list of some truly amazing romantic ideas to spend your Valentine’s free time with your loved one.

Discover Bodnant Gardens

Located above the River Conwy, with stunning views that stretch towards Snowdonia National Park, the 80 acres of Bodnant Gardens are quite easily some of the best in the country. Explore the various sections of the gardens, including; the upper garden near Bodnant Hall with lovely terraced gardens and informal lawns which are shaded by trees, or the lower garden where you’ll find the gorgeous wild garden.

Welsh Vineyard Wine Tasting

What could be more romantic than spending the day with your loved one, wine tasting and touring one of North Wales’ vineyards? The Ty Croes Vineyard on the southern corner of Anglesey covers two and half acres of vines that have now been turned into simply sumptuous Welsh wines.

There are also Pant Du Vineyard and Orchard in Penygroes, Caernarfon, which have been planted on the south facing glacial slopes of the pretty Nantlle Valley.

Explore Llanddwyn Island

Llanddwyn Island is home to Santes Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. Dwynwen, a four century princess who lived on Ynys Llanddwyn was very unlucky in love, she fell in love with a Prince called Maelon, but her father had already arranged for her to be married to someone else. Upset that she could not marry her Prince, she devoted her life to God; became a nun and prayed that true lovers would have better luck than she did.

Peaceful Stroll to Aber Falls

Take a picnic and head off up the path to one of Wales’ best known and loved waterfalls. This spectacular waterfall is best seen after heavy rainfall, when the water will be flowing dramatically. It is formed as the Afon Goch plunges roughly 120 feet over a sill of igneous rock in the foothills of the Carneddau range. The spray from the waterfall is really refreshing when you reach the top of the path, find somewhere with a good view and tuck into your romantic picnic.
